Notepad Holder

3 1/2 x 5 Notepad Holder
I really like this Notepad holder tutorial because it is a great gift to give someone and you can take this tutorial and use any of your stamp sets to recreate it. This is my favorite one I have made so far because I was able to use the Rainbow Glimmer Paper and I love the bold colors.
I did have a hard time figuring out how to explain this tutorial because if I didn't explain this clearly this does not work. Let me tell you I had a few mishaps making this so I wanted to have clear instructions so you don't waste your supplies. I hate throwing stuff away that you worked hard to create.
So lets look at supplies we will need:
  1. Scor Tape or double sided tape ( a must for its strength for 3D items)
  2. Bone Folder
  3. Score tool
  4. scissors
  5. Choice of cardstock
  6. patterned paper
  7. ribbon/embellishments
Measurements:
  1. Cardstock cut at 8 3/8 X 5 1/4
  2. Cardstock Band cut at 4 3/4 x 2
  3. Cardstock cut at 3 1/2 x 5 1/8
  4. Patterned Paper cut at 3 3/8 x 5 1/8
Instructions:
  • Take the cardstock you cut at 8 3/8 x 5 1/4 and your score tool. Score it at 3 5/8, 4, 4 3/8 so you will have three score lines right in a row
  • Here is an example of how the three score lines will look.
  • Then take your bone folder and fold the cardstock on the middle score line. Don't be shocked when the back cover will be longer than the front it is supposed to be like that and as we go along it will change.
  • While it is still folded on the middle score line measure down that side at 1 1/4 inches mark with a pencil and  then 1 3/4 down from the first marked line and mark with a pencil.
  • Cut the marks with scissor to the next score line so it creates slits which will eventually  become the pen holder.
  • Now we will fold the back cover over on the third score line and use the bone folder to press it down. Then open up so the back cover is on the right side. Put score tape in between the middle and third score line.
  • Fold the back cover over not the front cover or it will not work. You want the back cover to adhere to the scor tape.

  • Then flip it over and fold back against the middle score line to make a flat part for the pen to sit.
  • Then fold on the first score line to make a cover and pop the slit open for the pen.
  • You will then make the band on the right inside cover for the notepad so you can refill the notepad. I made the band by draping it over the sturdy backing part of the note pad to make two flaps. I adhered them with scor tape to the inside of the cover.
  • It now time to decorate as you please.

Here are some other examples I made using this tutorial:

Here are some close ups of the details I added to the covers.

Thanks for checking out the tutorial and I cant wait to see your creations.

Cute Hand Sanitizer Gifts

With our current times I never thought I would be making this as a gift or anyone would even want this as a gift. Hand sanitizer is now a gift that people want including myself and its something I know will be well used.  These cute little thank you gifts will be at my classes this summer and will do double duty for my attendees. They can use it for their hand sanitizer in the class and I always give a thank you gift for attending my classes so it will be a thank you as well.
You don't have to use these as thank you gifts but it could be a great stocking stuffer, a just because gift, a coworker gift, or anything you can think of plus it could be done with almost any stamp set. Lets get started on the tutorial.

Supplies:
  •  Cardstock cut - 4 3/4 x 3 3/4
  •  Pattern Paper - 2 1/2 x 1 3/4
  •  Pattern Paper-  1 x 6
  •  Adhesive of your choice (I like double sided tape for 3d projects)
  •  Scrap whisper white cardstock for sentiment
  •   Ribbon for decorating
  •   Cello bag for wrapping
Instructions:
  1.  Take the 4 3/4 x 3 3/4 piece of cardstock along with your score board and score it at 1 inch and 2 inch.
  2.  On the short side of the cardstock score at 1 and 2 3/4.
  3.  Use a bone folder to fold the scored lines.
  4.  Now take your cardstock and find the two horizontal score lines you will then take your scissors and cut some tabs. So there will be two square tabs on each side. Only cut the slits to score line that goes length wise.
  5. Put score tape on the two top tabs on the outside of those tab and attach the bottom to the outside to make a pocket for the hand sanitizer to sit.
  6. Now you will want to cut the sides in a angle. You can draw a line from the top corner all the way down to the lower corner at a angle if you want it to be perfect then cut it.  Or just cut at a angle on both sides.
  7. Wrap the patterned paper band around it and add the inside pattern paper with some score tape.
  8. You can decorate the front and add a sentiment. You can also then add a cellophane bag with ribbon to give it as a gift.

Celebrate Sunflower

One of my favourite flowers are sunflowers and I love to grow them. They come in many colors and sizes which is something I didn't realize until I started growing them a few years back. I love the ones that have multiple colors in them and grow shorter than the traditional yellow flowers. My favorite part about sunflowers is they just make you smile and they almost look like are smiling at you when you look at them in your garden. When I saw the Celebrate Sunflower bundle in the catalogue I knew I needed to have it and make some cute projects with it.

This set is a great set if you like to color, use alcohol markers, and watercolor. The images are very detailed and large so they are easy to color and bring depth in with your coloring medium. The sentiments are great too and I like that they mix the fonts which is something different and it adds interest. The dies are really cool too and they will allow you to add multiple layers of color and some pretty delicate detail.
I have made three projects with this bundle so far and I am sure you could do at least 50 more if you had the time. The first project I am going to show you is a set of cards I made for customers when I sent the new catalogue out. This set of cards was using the flowers for every season paper and the new in color designer series paper two sets of paper I highly recommend investing in due to its versatility.
Here are the measurements for the card and supplies used:
  •  Card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 using whisper white card stock.
  • Flowers For Every Season cut at 4 x 5 1/4
  • In color designer series paper cut at 2 inches
  • Whisper White scrap paper for sentiment
  •  Bumble Bee, Just Jade, Daffodil Delight cardstock for die cutting
  •  Flowers for every season ribbon bundle

For these particular cards I wanted to really show off the dies. I started by taking bumble bee cardstock and daffodil delight cardstock to start making the sunflowers. The one die can be tricky to use because its so delicate so I suggest having the take your pick brush that helps clean up dies on hand. It will save you time and energy trying to get all those pieces cleaned up.
The dies will create a solid flower and a delicate detailed layered that will help you make a pretty 3D flower.   I used bumble bee ink to ink around the solid image to add more depth. I also used our fine tip ink to attach the two die cuts and I placed it around the center so it would allow the petals to look 3D.

I wanted to add some more detail so I used the leaf dies to do the layering affect. I then used the
Just Jade ink to ink on the solid leaves as well but you can leave it without inking if you don't have a similar color or want a quick card.

I also used the dies to cut out greenery which is nice to have with the die set it allows you the ability to make a sunflower bouquet. I also used some sheer ribbon that comes in the combo ribbon pack for  flowers for every season pack. Another very versatile product in the catalogue.

This set of cards is an easy set to make with limited supplies but you get a detailed look that is just stunning. Like I said earlier in the post this set is so versatile and beautiful.

Flowers For Every Season Memories and More Card

The new catalogue is in full swing and I am finally getting to play with all the new things. One of my favorite suites is the Flowers For Every Season. It is a great floral suite that has so many uses and things you can make with it. One of the items in the suite is the Memories and More Card Packs which can be used in cardmaking, scrapbooking or even 3D projects.

This great set includes 4X6 cards, 3X4 cards and stickers to use as embellishments. When you create with it and add the matching envelopes you get a gorgeous set of cards anyone would be proud to receive. It also allows the person that is new to cardmaking to try their hand without actually stamping. This is great even for the seasoned crafter that doesn't want to stamp, the crafter on the go, or just a crafter that wants to create while watching their favorite Netflix show.
I decided that since I can't hold the class in person I would offer a Class to Go so you can recreate the cards at home at your leisure. All you would need is your own adhesive, scissors  and dimensionals to complete the project. If you don't have the adhesive and dimensionls I can help with that too, by adding those things to your order for an extra charge.
So What Do You Get in the Class:
  •  A pack of the Memories and More Cards Flowers For Every Season
  • Memories and More Cards and Envelopes that coordinate
  •  Any extra cardstock, embellishments, or Paper to complete the cards
  •  Video sent to your email that includes the tutorial for each card
This kit will make 10 different cards and their will be left over product to use along on other projects or to decorate the inside of your cards.
The cost is 40.59 plus shipping if  you need to ship it.  Shipping will depend on where it is going. Local delivery available.
You can send an email to register and save your spot in the class.

The email address to sign up is: joyofcraftin@yahoo.com

So lets take a sneak peak on some of the cards:

I think this is one of my favorite cards of the ten we will be making. I love the blue and yellow combination plus Sunflowers just make you smile. This sentiment is very uplifting and can be used for many different types of cards.
